My New Favorite Hymn

Thanks, Trawick, for sharing this with me! I love it!

Not so in haste, my heart!
Have faith in God, and wait;
Although He linger long,
He never comes too late.

He never cometh late;
He knoweth what is best;
Vex not thyself in vain;
Until He cometh, rest.

Until He cometh, rest,
Nor grudge the hours that roll;
The feet that wait for God
Are soonest at the goal.

Are soonest at the goal
That is not gained with speed;
Then hold thee still, my heart,
For I shall wait His lead.

For Sale

Hey, everyone! Yancy and I set a date of sell/rent by date of March 1st, which is right here upon us. For our own sanity, we had to put a deadline on this back and forth stuff. Someone is coming to look at the house tomorrow and we're having an open house this Saturday from 1-4. Please pray that God will send us a buyer soon!!! If we end up having to rent it (which we really don't want to do!) I know it will be worth it for us to be together again. Thanks for your prayers and concern for us!!! I'll keep you updated.

Down on the Farm

Yancy and I had such a fun day on Saturday! We drove down to Gary and Suzanne's farm and spent the day hanging out with great friends. We celebrted Suzanne's birthday, too. First thing we did was get lost in the woods. Yancy loved it! The briars ate us up, but we made it out alive with only minor scrapes. Our friends Stacy and Eric and their girls came over and we all roasted hot dogs and smores. It was so much fun! I tell Suzanne that it's like therapy for me, like a mini-vacation. It's so relaxing. And when we're all together, there's always lots of laughs, too! Hope you had a good birthday, Suzanne! We enjoyed it!

All of the girls...

Suzanne riding Holly Grace's scooter... too funny!

Rest for the Weary

I've always liked the verses in Matthew that say "Come to me all you who are weary and I will give you rest." Have you ever felt weary? What does that even mean, weary? And how does Jesus give us rest when we come to Him? I've been thinking about this scripture for about a week, pondering the answer to those questions, mainly because I think that's what I'm feeling. I looked up "weary" and one definition is "having one's patience exhausted." I'm definitely there! So how do I get rest? According to Jesus, all I have to do is come to Him. He wants me to come to Him, not when I have it all figured out, but because I'll never have it all figured out. He wants me to come to Him- bringing my weariness, my burdens, my sadness, my hopes, my sin- and He promises to give me rest. How can He promise rest? Because He can't lie. Because He is full of grace. Because He paid my sin debt. Because He loves me so much. Because He is kind. Because He is humble and gentle. Because He wants to carry my burdens for me. Because His patience never ends. I can rest in Jesus because of who He is- perfect, holy, sovereign... God. Feeling weary like me? Come to Jesus and find rest!

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. Matthew 11:28-30
